Mindfulness tip of the week: The power of power-posing!

When I first heard of power posing I shook my head in disbelief! It sounded so silly to me, that a pose could actually have any effect on our confidence, behaviour, and even our mindset. But guess what?! – it can!

By learning the power of power-posing we can use this knowledge of body language to our advantage and enhance our confidence, our mindset and even how others perceive us.

We differentiate between high power poses:

Take a minute and think about how you perceive the two women just by their poses!

There is no doubt that Beyonce is going to get what she want in the first photo! She exudes confidence and well … power! Whereas the woman in the second photo is exuding the exact opposite of power.

The science behind power-posing

Research by Amy Cuddy has shown incredible results! By posing empowering for a few minutes we send signals to our brain that drastically decrease the cortisol levels (the stress hormone) and drastically increase testosterone (the dominance hormone).

So next time you are feeling stressed about an exam or a job interview or even a presentation strike a power pose!

I want you to be mindful of your body language and use this to your advantage. Think about how you want to be perceived and act accordingly.
