As we are well info fall the weather is changing into more windy, colder, and especially rainy days ??. Sometimes we just don’t feel like putting on our raincoat and defy the rain. Instead a cozy indoor activity seem perfect ?
Here are 10 fun, indoor activities to do, when it is raining outside:
Play board games
Get out all the classics: Monopoly, Mouse Trap, Backgammon, make a pumpkin latte ☕️ and enjoy an afternoon playing games with your significant other or your family!
It can be a great way to connect with the people you play with in comparison to for instance playing video games or watching TV.
For couples I highly recommend to try out the role playing game called Fog og Love. The developer of the board game wanted to create a game he could play with his wife. It is like playing a starring role in a romantic comedy that can go anywhere, and it is a really fun, creative game that can be played by only 2 players.
Read a book
If you are in need of a quiet activity create a comfy setup in your favourite chair. Get out the cozy blanket, make a cup of tea and start reading that book you have always wanted to but never gotten around to reading.
Reading is so calming and a great way to use our imagination. Many people neglect reading nowadays and opt for TV instead or audio books, but it just isn’t the same.
What book was the first you ever got completely caught up in? Mine was the Harry Potter series.
I try to read at least 20 min. every day – preferably before bedtime.
Journalling is a great way to ease your mind as well as to enhance your creativity. You can simply write down whatever comes to mind, or write in a diary format. You can write down positive affirmations, or try out a gratitude journal – you can even start writing the first chapter of the novel you have always dreamed about writing. Whatever floats your boat as they say.
Have a sweet tooth? Bake your favourite cake or bake an incredible bread. Trying our a new recipe can be refreshing and I love the idea of no additives in my food #cleaneating. I personally love this rosemary/seasalt focaccia ?
TIP: Keep a small journal of your own recipes, and/or notes to other recipes to perfect each dish.
Read a magazine, take an online course on Youtube or find one of your old college books from the box in the garage. It is never to late to learn something new. You can even start learning a new language or how to create your own blog!
Have a spa-day
This is one of my favourite things to do when I have some time to kill! Create the perfect bath, do a full body treatment: do a face mask, exfoliate, shave, use a hairmask, use body lotion, do your feet, do your nails.
By learning beauty skills you can save a ton of money on doing treatments such as your nails or eyebrows yourself.
You will feel great afterwards and look great as well!
Create a home-theater
Create the perfect setting for a real theater experience. Set you couch up with soft pillows and blankets. Make some popcorn and a cup of hot cocoa and cozy up in front of some candles and a great movie! Remember to turn off your phone!
I am a sucker for holiday movies and the moment we hit December my Christmas movie marathon begins! ?
Create new outfits
If you are feeling like your wardrobe might need some new pieces or you are simply plain tired of your wardrobe and never finding anything to wear try to take out all your clothing of your closet and sort it into 3 piles.
Pile 1: Keep
Pile 2: Donate
Pile 3: Trash
Once you have sorted your clothes try to match it in outfits. It is actually really fun to see how many new outfits you can create form the same staple pieces in your wardrobe and you might even find some pieces you didn’t remember you had.
Meditation is great for your mind and body! By focussing on only your breath your mind recharges. It is not a coincidence, that CEOs all over the world use meditation as a tool of relaxation and to recharge.
It might seem silly at first, but try to sit in a comfortable position with closed eyes and take deep breaths.
Try counting your breath. In and out. Count to ten with each breath. In – 1, out – 2, in – 3 … and so on!
TIP: Download a meditation app to get you started. There are many great free versions out there. I personally use Headspace.
Listen to music
When did you last put on a record and simply sat down and listened to it?With todays streaming services and countless playlists we rarely listen to a whole album at once. However, many artists actually put a lot of intention into creating an album as a piece that should be listened to all at once. Sitting in a relaxing chair with a cozy blanket and listening to your favourite artist is one of the best ways to relax and recharge.
What is your go-to-activity on a rainy day?
